Testimonial for Caroline Fardell
David and family from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk were having serious problems with Weimaraner ‘Willow’. Her behaviour was so bad that it was a “It’s me or the dog” situation. David contacted his local PURE Dog Listener – Caroline Fardell for assistance. Caroline attended the home address to see Willow in the environment she felt most comfortable and would display her usual behaviour patterns. Following an in depth consultation Caroline kept in touch to monitor progress. As a result of one of these follow up checks the following was received from Willow’s owners.

“Thanks for asking how she is doing. The short answer is that she is doing very well indeed, and continuing to make headway. She is much more relaxed and has completely ceased pacing the room. She habitually sits at my feet at any, and every opportunity. Her behaviour with respect to other dogs has totally changed; she often ignores them completely, and even when she does show an interest gone are the days when she lunged around barking at them. She really has grasped the idea that someone else is in charge and that she does not have to worry about things.

I regard the money spent with you as being one of my best investments. The whole family has adopted the correct approach and we are so pleased with the way in which Willow has mellowed. I am definitely a happy dog owner and I am sure that Willow is a happier dog as a result of your training. Our walks now consist to a large extent of me telling her what a good dog she is.”

Testimonial for Helen Simmonds
Following a family bereavement Cagney became very stressed and displayed this by biting his owners. They called in a behaviourist but made little progress. They then contacted PURE Dog Listener Helen Simmonds who worked closely with Cagney and the family. As a result of Helen’s intervention the family wrote

“Thank you for taking the time to come over and help us with Cagney this morning. Talking with you makes me realise how easy it is to let things slide and how important it is to reinforce what you have advised us to do. It is such a blessing we found you, as I dread to think what Cagney would have been like if we had stayed with the first “behaviourist” with him! I was very impressed at how easy you made it look and it does show how receptive and bright Cagney is. We do appreciate your spending time with us and hopefully next time we see you, you will see even more improvement in our behaviour with Cagney!”

Testimonial for Amanda Williams
Gaynor from Swansea had problems with her dog Caio. PURE dog Listener Amanda Williams attended and following the consultation process Gaynor wrote

“We had training with Amanda Williams and it has been so helpful with my dogs progress, however its a long progress and takes a lot of patience. I’ve seen big changes with Caio and he listens to me more now. I’ve recommended Amanda to some of my friends and they are also very pleased. Thank you Amanda.”

Testimonial for Lesley Harris
Bridget and David from the New Forest and their rescue dog Tess had a number of issues. They contacted PURE Dog Listener Lesley Harris who attended the clients address for a consultation. She made some notes some of which are shown below.

Rescue dog, very self possessed – not shut down in a huge way, but not well connected – particularly with Bridget, who was becoming nervous at the increasing show of (mildish) aggression when she asked Tess to leave her bed etc. Poor recall and some aggression toward other dogs (fearful rather than dominant). Pretty much followed the requests she chose to “obey” and either ignored or refused point blank with others. She was also taking control of feeding no aggression though here. Lovely owners, sweet dog – the owners did everything to help her and she has responded in exactly the way anyone could wish for.

Following the consultation Lesley made the usual follow up phone calls and all was going well. She had no further contact for about a year until one day walking in the New Forest she met up with Tess and ‘her humans’ The news was good, happy dog happy family who wrote

” I was really pleased you saw the ‘new’ Tess, calm, relaxed in the presence of other dogs and people, so quite, quite different from a year ago. She spends virtually the whole time off the lead in the Forest, no problems at all with ponies or cattle etc. I have so much more trust in her now, and she responds to it.
Although she still likes her warm bed on cold winter mornings and needs a bit of encouragement to actually get up, but after that, quite keen.
Again many, many thanks for your invaluable help with the ‘old’ Tess it was much appreciated.
We have no objections at all to be quoted as testimonials on the PDL website.
Good luck with the Pure Dog Listening project it’s an amazing tool with regard to dog development.
Best wishes and kind regards Bridget and David

Testimonial for Amanda Williams APDL

“Hi Amanda, thanks for everything on Monday. The change in all three dogs has been amazing but particularly Bella! I am much more confident now, she has had to be walked but I use a lead like yours and she does not bark at other dogs at all now! It’s so much better! You’ve made my life so much easier with my dogs! We are all following the rules in the house and they are so much more well behaved! I will keep you updated!”

Testimonial for Caroline Spencer Founder member PDL
A beautifully yellow Labrador called Frodo. The Marley of the Uk as his owner remarked when she first made contact with me.

“Our week so far, my boy can now be walked to the front door without acting like a break dancing teenager. His food routine is well in control. His recall has improved dramatically as his invasion of visitors personal space. Doorbell barks are less. He really is learning fast!!! It’s a big turn around.. Still long way to go but my crisp cold morning walks are in sight x thank you Caroline”

Caroline Thankyou
Feel quite emotional typing this…..
6 months ago I almost made the decision to give up my dog Frodo, a wayward, strongwilled asbo of a labrador.
You came, you saw, you helped us conquer and today I walked my pal for the first time alone….
I didnt feel embarrassed, anxious of filled with dread. Instead I enjoyed being with my boy.
I cant wait till tomorrow when we can do it again. Its taken 3 years for me to enjoy our dog like we should and its finally coming together.
the happy to heel harness is just the icing on the cake….plus ive gained a new friend…in you

COURSE TESTIMONIAL

Firstly, I’d like to say thank you so much to yourself and Robin, I found the seminar so informative and it was a relief after years of studying and researching to finally find that there IS a way to be kind and effective with dog training without having to enforce physical dominance over a dog. I am very excited about the future course and am already eagerly reading up on the recommended books / papers you suggested. I also felt I had made some friends and hope to stay in touch and build on these friendships going forward.

I’ve already started my portfolio, on two dogs, one of which is my mothers which responded really well to the method over the weekend, and the other is going to be a rescue dog I’m intending to foster so hopefully this will give me some good experience for the advanced course.

Hope your both well, look forward to meeting up again soon.
